It will be the first time that Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Heaven & Hell play together," organizer Marcel Avram told a news conference Wednesday. He said there would be 45,000 tickets available per day.
Rammstein is a German rock band founded in 1994, in Berlin. The band consists of members Till Lindemann (lead vocals), Richard Z. Kruspe (lead guitar and backing vocals), Paul H. Landers (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Oliver "Ollie" Riedel (bass guitar), Christoph "Doom" Schneider (drums and electronic percussion) and Christian "Flake" Lorenz (keyboards). They have released six albums so far: "Herzeleid" (1995), "Sehnsucht" (1997), "Mutter" (2001), "Reise, Reise" (2004), "Rosenrot" (2005) and "Liebe ist Fuer Alle Da" (2009). Rammstein were in Romania previously, filming a video for their single "Rosenrot."
Manowar is one of the biggest names in heavy-metal and was called "the loudest band in the world" by the Guinness Book of World Records 1984. Over their thirty-year career, Manowar has released ten studio albums, three live albums and numerous singles, EPs, compilations and DVDs, attracting legions of fans.
Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer were founded around the same time and quickly became the main "engines" driving the thrash metal scene in the United States, earning them the nickname "The Big Four."
Alice in Chains was formed in Seattle in 1987 and was for a time associated with the city's grunge scene, which included Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Although the band never officially broke up, its history was marked by the members' drug abuse, culminating with singer Layne Staley's death in 2002. The band reunited in 2005, with new singer William DuVall, and released "Black Gives Way to Blue" in 2009, its first studio album in 14 years.
Heaven & Hell is a musical collaboration of Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler along with former members Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice. The band took its name from the first Black Sabbath album on which Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne as lead singer. In 2009, Heaven & Hell released "The Devil You Know", which was well received by critics and the public.
