Romanian Interior Minister Might Resign – Sources

According to the sources, Blaga called Interior Ministry bodies’ officials for talks on Monday morning. Police and Gendarmerie representatives are also attending the meeting.

Blaga’s plan to resign follows Romanian President Traian Basescu’s and Boc’s decision to renounce Police and Gendarmerie protection, as Interior Ministry employees who took part in an unauthorized march on the presidential palace breached the law.

The president said the police officers who participated in protests Friday undermined the state’s authority and its institutions, and highlighted that the only protesters who breached the law during rallies staged last week were Interior Ministry employees.
