Thirty-seven Romanians died from COVID-19 abroad / 651 have been infected

In total, 651 Romanians in the diaspora have been diagnosed with infection with the new coronavirus, and another 37 died from this disease, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) announced on Wednesday.

„According to information obtained by the diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania abroad, so far, 651 Romanian citizens have been confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 412 in Italy, 195 in Spain, 15 in France, 8 in Germany, 11 in the UK, 2 in Namibia, 2 in Indonesia and one in Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Sweden and the USA. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic, up to this time, 37 Romanian citizens abroad, 11 in Italy, 7 in France, 11 in the UK, 6 in Spain, one in Germany and one in Sweden, died”, the quoted source mentioned.

Romanian officials remind citizens to consider only information verified through official sources and to call for recommendations and other information on the TELVERDE line – 0800.800.358. The TELVERDE number is not an emergency number, it is a telephone line strictly allocated for informing citizens. Also, Romanians abroad can request information on preventing and combating the virus at their specially dedicated line, +4021.320.20.20.

By Tuesday, 608.500 cases were reported in EU / EEA, UK, Monaco, San Marino, Switzerland, Andorra. Most cases were registered in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
