Romanian birth rate was at 9.7 newborns per 1,000 inhabitants on the year in May, compared with 9.8 newborns per 1,000 inhabitants during the same period a year ago.

The death rate decreased on the year in May to 11.4 deceased per 1,000 inhabitants, from 11.5 deceased per 1,000 inhabitants in May 2007.

The infant mortality was higher on the year in May to 13.3 deceased under one year old per 1,000 alive newborns, from 13.1 during the same period a year ago.

The natural growth was constant on the year in May to minus 3.1 thousand persons.

The marriage rate on the year in May was at 7.3 marriages per 1,000 inhabitants, compared with 7.1 marriages during the same period a year ago.

The divorce rate was of 1.93 divorces per 1,000 inhabitants on the year in May, compared with 1.83 divorces during the same period a year ago.

On the month in May, the birth rate was at 9.7 newborns per 1,000 inhabitants, compared with 9.5 newborns per 1,000 inhabitants in April.
