Romanian meteorologists on Sunday extended the code yellow heat wave advisory until Tuesday, but only for the southern part of the country.

Hot weather will continue over the next two days and temperatures will „frequently” reach 35-37 degrees Celsius, according to the advisory.

The heat index, which combines temperature and relative humidity, will exceed critical limits (80 units) in the afternoon, for the duration of the advisory.

Meteorologists also warned that atmospheric instability is likely to occur in mountainous regions, from Sunday afternoon until Tuesday.

Romania has been under a code yellow heat wave warning this weekend.
