Romanian Social Democrats Nominate Dragnea For Interior Min

The executive committee of Romania’s Social Democratic Party adopted Monday unanimously the party’s standing office proposition to nominate party vice-president Liviu Dragnea for the position of interior minster, after the resignation of Gabriel Oprea last week.

The announcement was made by party leader Mircea Geoana, who added he is glad, from a political and a personal point of view, that the party decided to nominate Dragnea to run the Interior Ministry.
 
Oprea resigned the position of interior minister position and left the party altogether after party leaders withdrew his political support, for having made appointments in key positions at the ministry without consulting party leaders.
