Fischer said they had talks on economy issues, including banking issues, adding that Austria invested in Romania, starting with 1990, approximately EUR12 billion.

President Basescu, together with central bank governor Mugur Isarescu, economy minister Adriean Videanu, tourism minister Elena Udrea and foreign minister Cristian Diaconescu, met Monday with Austrian officials in Vienna, for talks regarding Austrian investors in Romania.

Presidents of the main banks with foreign capital in Romania met Friday the delegation of the International Monetary Fund and the representatives of Finance Ministry at the National Bank of Romania.

Basescu stated in February that parent banks with units in Romania should continue to provide the necessary resources to finance the economic operations on the Romanian market.
