The agency said check-ups target 15 union leaders, which head the country’s major trade unions.

Marius Ungureanu, a former customs worker at the southern Romanian Giurgiu crossing point, said Tuesday Sed Lex union leader Vasile Marica took bribes from customs employees to have them promoted or kept in their jobs.

Ungureanu, who said he worked at the customs between 1990 and 2003, told a news conference organized by the Pro Lex union, that he has known Marica since 1996 and has paid him $2,000-$2,500 per month between 1997 and 2002.
