Romanian airport officials said the incident occurred Friday morning at around 6.38 local time when a plane carrying 89 passengers from Tbilisi to Munich requested permission for emergency landing over a passenger complaining of chest pains.

The plane landed safely and the passenger was taken to a local hospital by ambulance after receiving first aid from doctors at the airport. The patient is stable and is undergoing tests at the hospital.

The flight will be grounded in Constanta for several hours as the pilots have exceeded their flying schedule. The remaining 88 passengers have been taken to a local four-star hotel until Lufthansa establishes a new flight schedule.
