Emilian Rosca, head of the local labor inspectorate in Cluj, on Friday said the first accident occurred at kilometer 31 on Transylvania highway where one of the two workers fell off a bridge from a height of seven meters.
Rosca said the worker, 44, was working for a subcontracting company of US company Bechtel, in charge with construction works on Transylvania highway.
According to Rosca, the second accident occurred in Gilau where the other man, 47, was working on a viaduct along with other three colleagues and fell from a height of 20 meters. The three called the paramedics who strove to resuscitate the man for over 40 minutes.
The local labor inspectorate in Cluj set off investigations in the two cases.
Another worker was injured this week in Gilau after falling from one of the viaduct’s pillars.
