Cosmote Romania’s 3G network reaches nearly 58% of Romania’s population and covers capital Bucharest, major cities and about three hundred other towns. The Romanian provider’s 3G services are also available abroad, via roaming, through 37 operators in 30 countries.

The press release adds that Cosmote’s high bandwidth mobile Internet services rely on Connect 3G solutions, which allow for transfer speeds of up to 21.6 MB/s. A monthly subscription, with 5GB of data traffic included, costs EUR11.9.

Cosmote stores now offer Connect EVDO, an Internet connection solution for notebooks, enabling speeds of up to 3.1 MB/s, and CDMA network connection services.

Cosmote Romania has also improved its EDGE-GPRS network.

Cosmote Romania, member of the Greek-based Cosmote Group, is the country’s third largest mobile communications provider, with 6.9 million clients on December 31, 2009. The operator currently covers 99% of the country’s population and 90% of its territory.

Other providers present on the Romanian 3G market are Vodafone, Orange, and RDS-RCS.
