"Starting tomorrow, only fixed telephony numbers containing prefixes will function. Each time a call is made without using the prefix, the caller will receive a verbal warning or an SMS regarding the new format of the numbers, but the call will no longer be redirected to its destination," the National Regulatory Authority for Communications and Information Technology (ANRCTI) said in a press release Thursday.
The August 1 – September 30 interval represents the final stage in the National numbering plan, at the end of which all telephone numbers will be ten digits long.
Fixed telephony users will only be reachable at the entire national telephone number (prefix + local number), for all local and national calls.
