Romanian Liberals To Submit Simple Motion On Education

The leaders of Romania’s National Liberal Party (PNL) decided Monday that liberal deputies would initiate and submit to the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday a simple motion on education, following recent decisions made by education minister Ecaterina Andronescu, which displeased the liberals.

The party’s secretary general, Dan Motreanu, said, at the end of the meeting of the party’s central standing office, that the proposal to initiate a simple motion on education was unanimously voted.

In turn, liberal deputy Alina Gorghiu said the motion would be submitted to the Chamber Tuesday, adding that its content would be completed by then.

Gorghiu also said the liberals’ complaints concerning education-related issues, as well as the rationale behind their motion, would be made public Tuesday during a press conference upon submitting the motion to the Chamber.

Under the Constitution, the "Chamber of Deputies or the Senate can adopt a simple motion, allowing a clear standpoint with respect to a certain local or foreign policy issue, or, if the case, an issue was subject of interpellation."
