„We will protect Romanian companies, with all available resources, from the effects of the new trade war of customs tariffs, between America and Europe. We are preparing support measures for all industries affected through state aid schemes that are as efficient and simple to apply as possible, so that they can produce effects in the shortest possible time”, says, at the beginning of the Government meeting, Marcel Ciolacu.

He also sends a message „for those who accuse every day how badly things are going in the economy”.

„There are data from the last few days that show the confidence of Romanian and foreign investors in our economic potential. The largest industrial entrepreneurial company, Chimcomplex, is investing 100 million euros in a new factory in Oneşti. The Finns from Nokian have started tire production in Oradea. They will exceed one billion euros in turnover this year itself. Mobexpert, Dedeman and all the major hypermarket chains are expanding their logistics network in the country, with investments of hundreds of millions of euros. An American investment fund has acquired the Regina Maria health network for over 1.3 billion euros. In conclusion, there is trust in Romania, which is why serious investors are putting so much money at stake. This is the true picture of our economy”, concludes Ciolacu.

US President Donald Trump announced trade tariffs for all countries in the world on Wednesday. He presented a chart titled „Reciprocal Tariffs”, which compares the taxes imposed by other countries with those established by Washington. The European Union, which represents 27 member states, including Romania, appears on the table with a tariff of 20%.
