Greater Romania Party Wants To File No-Confidence Motion To Bring Down Tariceanu Govt

Funar said the motion will be submitted only after teh Greater Romania Party (PRM) wins the litigations it filed to block uninominal voting and hasten general elections.

“The Tariceanu Government took responsibility for this bad law, law no. 35/2008. The law was not debated in Parliament. Next week or on October 28, we stand good chances of blocking this irresponsible legislative act, following the litigation on the illegal Government decision on uninominal constituencies we have filed at the Court of Appeals Bucharest,” Funar said.

If PRM wins the trial, it will prepare a no-confidence motion, as the democrat liberals and the social democrats “lacked the courage to file such a motion”, he added.

“We will prepare a no-confidence motion, and I’m sure we will get signatures from the Democratic Liberal Party and the Social Democratic Party, as we alone do not reach the necessary number. Since the Government took responsibility for this stupid law, and life confirmed it is a bad one, the respective Government must fall,” Funar said.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal decided on October 6 to accept the request made by the Greater Romania Party to advance the trial in which it asked to cancel the Government Decision establishing the uninominal constituencies for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The new trial term is due for October 28.
