"The final version of the single and unitary salary law in the public sector must be completed until August 14 so that the government can be ready anytime for debates in Parliament on adopting the law. I personally think the government must assume responsibility for the law, considering a law of this magnitude can only be adopted by assuming responsibility in Parliament. Furthermore, the lending agreement with the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) says the law must be adopted until October 30. In addition, going into all proceedings in both Senate and the Chamber of Deputies could keep us from meeting this target," Boc said.

He added the same deadline was also set for the completion of laws in the education sector and stressed he wants the government to also adopt these laws by assuming responsibility in Parliament.

"Romania’s government, which is based on a very strong coalition – at least theoretically – in Parliament, will actually make no sense at all unless it carries out the structural reforms that were simply ignored over the past 20 years or those reforms nobody was bold enough to carry out," Boc concluded.
