The amendment setting the retirement age at 55 for both men and women refers to acting military staff, police officers and special statute public servants in the penitentiary administration system, the defense, public order and national security sectors.

The amendment proposed by a group of social democrat senators was adopted with 48 to 47 votes.

Another amendment adopted by senators, which also refers to employees working in the abovementioned sectors, sets at 15 years the minimum interval to pay social security contribution, and at 25 years the complete social security payment interval.

The two amendments were initially adopted by defense committee senators and rejected by the labor committee.
