Basescu, who is running for a second term, and Antonescu will participate Saturday in a public debate in Cluj-Napoca, northwestern Romania, at 3 p.m.
Romanian social democrat presidential candidate Mircea Geoana said Thursday he invited Basescu to participate in a public debate, adding the meeting might take place in a university.
Basescu’s spokesperson Sever Voinescu said Friday Basescu accepted Geoana’s invitation and proposed the meeting should take place in Cluj-Napoca on Saturday.
Geoana said he will participate Saturday in election campaign events in Braila and Tulcea, southeastern Romania, and proposed presidential candidates to meet Wednesday at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.
