HBO Romania Documentary „The World According to Ion B.” Nominated For International Emmy
The film tells the story of Ion Barladeanu, who, after living on the streets of Bucharest for almost 20 years, became a world-renown artist. His collages, depicting life in communist Romania, were displayed in 2009 in London, next to works by Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp, and in 2010 at a prestigious gallery in Paris.
„The World According to Ion B.” was produced by HBO Romania and Alexander Nanau Production, in collaboration with Avro-Netherlands, YLE Teema and SVT Sweden. It had its exclusive premiere on December 17, 2009, on HBO Romania.
The other nominees in the International Emmys „Arts Programming” category are: „All My Life: Cazuza” (TV Globo, Brazil), „Imagine… David Hockney: A Bigger Picture” (BBC/ Coluga Pictures, UK) and „Personas Inside Out” (TV Asahi, Japan). The nominations were made known Monday by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the Mipcom fair in Cannes. The winners will be announced on October 22 in New York.
