A high-ranking official of the Hungarian police said Monday on Hungarian public television that Romanian handball player Marian Cozma was stabbed and killed by Raffael Sandor, one of the three arrested late Sunday in Austria, MTI reported.

Austrian police said Monday it arrested three Hungarian citizens, two men and one woman, as they were tryiong to make their way into Italy. Although police did not release the names of the suspects, AFP reported the two men are Sandor Raffael and Gyozo Nemeth, and that a third suspect, Ivan Sztojka, was still on the run.
Romania’s interior affairs attaché to Budapest, Ioan Bentze, confirmed for MEDIAFAX Wednesday that the two men arrested are Sandor Raffael and Gyozo Nemeth, adding the woman is not among the suspects.
Cozma, 26, was stabbed to death and two teammates from MKB Veszprem were severely injured, during a fight outside a Veszprem nightclub on Saturday night.
Serbian international Zarko Sesum, 23, suffered a skull fracture and Croatian Ivan Pesic, 20, was stabbed in the kidney, but neither's condition was life-threatening, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.
The fight apparently degenerated between the handball team and a group of about 30 people, after Cozma's girlfriend was verbally abused outside the nightclub, AFP reported.
Sunday evening, over a thousand people took part in a ceremony at the Veszprem stadium to commemorate the slain player.
