"There are legal experts who say the Italian law goes against Directive 38/2004 of the European Commission. Romania’s Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry and Justice Ministry are currently analyzing this directive, and based on their recommendation, we might notify the European Commission. We haven’t decided yet, as we are waiting for the final analysis," Tariceanu said on TV station Antena 3.
He added the Italian law does not eye only Romanian citizens, nor citizens working there legally.
Tariceanu said he had detailed talks on the issue in Wednesday’s meeting in Rome with Italian premier Romano Prodi and the Italian interior minister.
