It said 75% of the funds will come from the state budget and the rest from local authorities.
Romania has 41 zoological gardens, out of which 31 are zoos per se, 6 public aquariums, 1 dolphinarium and 2 terrariums.
“As many of those zoological gardens were unable to provide minimum conditions to the animals in accordance with the European norms, they risked being shut down and the local communities, especially the children would have no places to learn and study about wild animals,” the ministry said in the statement.
