Romania’s Ex President Against Early Elections This Year
He did admit, however, that early elections could be triggered “one way or another”.
Social democrat leader Mircea Geoana said Wednesday that early elections represent a solution for the country to overcome its political and institutional block.
Iliescu said the party has no interest in bringing down the government, but stressed that this does not mean the party will cease to adopt an opposition policy.
He added that overthrowing the government during an election year is not a solution and said the Social Democratic Party must have an “articulate” attitude as the main opposition party.
