"The businessman is interested in buying the majority stake in JW Marriott in Bucharest and mandated the law firm to negotiate with all parties involved, including Strabag and Bank of Cyprus," they said.

Taher offered last year to buy the stake held in the hotel by Austrian construction company Strabag, but he said he received no reply.

The five-star JW Marriott hotel is administered by the Grand Hotel Companies, which is owned 55% by Strabag, 19% by Alliance Overseas, controlled by Taher, and Cyprus-based New Marathon, via ONT Carpati.
