Predoiu noted that the norms of the current Civil code date from 1865 and are, for the most part, not applied today. Lawmakers in the Communist period avoided drafting new laws, as they would have been significantly influenced by Soviet civil law.
Prime Minister Emil Boc stated that the draft Code will be approved by the Government in Wednesday’s meeting. The Criminal Code, the Criminal procedure Code and the Civil procedure Code were approved by the Government last week.
