Romanian Fmr Gymnast Lavinia Milosovici To Join International Gymnastics Hall Of Fame
Apart from Milosovici, three other gymnasts will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year: Alexander Tkatchev (Russia) – 12 World Championships or Olympic medals between 1978 and 1981, Leonid Arkayev (Russia) – coach of the Soviet and Russian Olympic teams from 1972-2004 and Steffi Kraeker (Germany) – 10 World Championships or Olympic medals between 1976 and1981.
Romanians Nadia Comaneci, Bela Karoly, Ecaterina Szabo, Teodora Ungureanu, Daniela Silivas, Simona Amanar and Octavian Bellu are among the 73 gymnasts and gymnastics contributors inducted into the Hall of Fame over the past 14 years.
Milosovici, 35, made her debut in international competitions in 1991 and withdrew after the Olympic Games in 1996. During her career, the Romanian gymnast won 19 World Championships or Olympic medals, of which 13 gold medals.
