Geoana stated he does not know why the text of the agreement would not be published in Romania as well, adding that it would be a sign of transparency at local level.

"It comes to the Parliament for ratification anyway and the MPs will obviously want to see the text, to avoid voting for a text that we don’t know (…)," Geoana added.

Romania agreed end-March with the IMF, the European Commission and other financial institutions a EUR19.95 billion economic program supported by a EUR12.95 billion loan under a two-year Stand-By Arrangement from the IMF.

Central bank governor Mugur Isarescu said recently the market sensitive indicators in Romania’s agreement with the IMF would not be published, as in all the agreements there are included such indicators that may distort the markets.
