Romania’s bicameral parliament has 452 seats total, of which 315 are in the Chamber of Deputies and 137 in the Senate.
The lower house can offer up to 18 additional seats for organizations of Romanian minorities that have no representatives in parliament, provided the candidates obtain at least 10% of the national votes.
The Alliance formed of ruling National Liberal Party (PNL), opposition Social Democratic Party (PSD) and Conservative Party (PC) has enrolled 452 candidates – 315 for the Chamber of Deputies and 137 for Senate.
The Democrat Liberal Party, or PDL, registered 451 candidates (314 run for deputy and 137 for senator), while the Democratic Unions of Hungarian in Romania, or UDMR, has 449 candidates (313 run for deputy and 136 for senator).
The nationalist Greater Romania Party (PRM) registered 441 candidates, of which 309 run for deputy and 132 for senator.
The independents’ list includes 31 candidates, of which 28 run for deputy and 3 for senator, while the organizations of national minorities registered a total of 18 candidates, all running for deputy seats.
