Preliminary Results: PSD+PC Alliance 30.56%, PDL -29.69%, PNL -14.56%

Romania’s Central Electoral Office (BEC) said Monday the alliance formed of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Conservative Party (PC) secured 30.56% of the votes at the EP elections on June 7, followed by the Democratic Liberal Party (PDL) with 29.69% and the Liberal Party (PNL) with 14.56%.

The Hungarian minority party (UDMR) placed fourth with 9.27%, followed by far-right Greater Romania Party (PRM) with 8.74% and independent candidate Elena Basescu with 4.23%, BEC spokesperson, Marian Muhulet, said Monday.  
 
Preliminary results made public Monday morning, at GMT 0600, by BEC indicate that the PSD+PC alliance obtained 1,360,331 votes, or 30.56%, PDL obtained 1,321,671 votes, or 29.69%, PNL got 648,292 votes, or 14.56%, UDMR obtained 412,718 votes, or 9.27%.
 
Furthermore, PRM obtained 388,197 votes, or 8.74%, Elena Basescu got 188,493 votes, or 4.23%, the National Christian-Democratic Peasants’ Party (PNTCD) obtained 65,976 votes, or 1.48%, independent candidate Pavel Abraham got 45,815 votes, or 1.02%, and the Civic Force Party obtained 18,037 votes, or 0.40%. 
 
The same results indicate that 4,629,316 Romanians or 27.40%, out of 16,891,238 registered voters, cast ballots in the EP elections held Sunday, June 7. 
 
Of total votes, 4,450,330, or 96.13%, were valid, while 178,415, or 3.85% were null.
