Police said the man was found after a break-in Tuesday night at a car parts warehouse in Mioveni.
Local police said in a press release Friday that extending investigations regarding the theft on Tuesday night, police searched the home of a man in Clucereasa Thursday night and found thousands of Dacia car parts, which police alleged had been stolen from the Dacia car plant. After an inventory, investigators established the stolen parts are worth some EUR100,000, not EUR300,000 as initially estimated.
Police opened a criminal record for the man whose home was searched and investigations continue tom identify his accomplices.
According to chief of local police Cristian Mihalcea, police found thousands of new car parts in the man’s home and attic. The man didn’t have any documents to prove he got the car parts legally and early investigations indicate he is part of an auto theft network.
"We’ve searched this man’s home and we found Dacia car parts everywhere. He is being heard to see where he got the parts and identify all the people involved in this case,” Mihalcea said.
