The general anticorruption department investigated and sent prosecutors 1,199 criminal files in the first half of the year, 27% more compared to the same interval in 2010. Of these, 289 were sent to the National Anticorruption Department and the rest to prosecution offices across the country.
Criminal investigations were started in 230 cases, an 11% increase compared to the first half of 2010.
The general anticorruption department investigated 2,706 people (+63%), of which 1,242 were Interior Ministry employees (+65%). Of the Interior Ministry employees investigated, 1,173 have been placed under criminal investigations and 30 of them were in management positions.
The number of people placed under preventive arrest for actions investigated by the DGA increased 226% in the first half of the year, the report showed.
