They said that the increase in the price of tickets for charter flights is caused by higher oil prices.
“Oil price increases will determine the increase of prices for international charter flights. Companies leasing airplanes used by tour operators announced to increase prices by 20-30%,” said Mircea Poenaru, general manager of Romantic Travel tourism agency.
Sorin Georgescu, marketing manager of Romania’s flag carrier Tarom said the price to lease charter planes would increase but did not give a price.
Martin Bikfalvy, manager of Calibra tourism agency, operating charter flights towards Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Spain said he is currently negotiating with airline companies the prices to lease planes for the summer period.
“The price of a touristic package including transportation via a charter plane might increase 7%-12% compared with last year,” Bikfalvy said.
