Commission spokesman Ferran Tarradellas Espuny said the visit will take place Friday, when a new strong flash flood is expected to occur.
Espuny added that there have been new offers of flood relief, from countries which were recently affected by floods themselves. According to the EC spokesman, Hungary has offered ten pumps and two power generators, Poland has offered two containers of anti-flood material, a team of 23 specialists and four high-capacity pumps. Bulgaria has also offered aid, consisting of a team of 20 people, 40 pumps and several boats.
Espuny said Monday that, after Romanian authorities activated the EU Mechanism for Civil Protection, four member states offered flood relief: Austria, Belgium, France and Estonia. The aid convoy from Belgium and Austria has already arrived in Romania. France and Estonia offered „heavy materials” which are not necessary for the moment, but the offer is on the table until July 8-10, when it is estimated the aid will be required, Espuny said Monday.
