"It is inconceivable that Romania, which has an effectively larger capability compared with other countries, imports 70% of its products in the agricultural and animal breeding field," Boc said.

During Government discussions with the representatives of the International Monetary Fund and with the European Commission, Boc said he will ask the increase of the governmental guarantees threshold for strategic sectors such as the constructions and the agriculture.

According to Boc, the increase of this threshold will encourage the Romanian farmers and the imports of agri-food product should decrease.

Boc said the agriculture has a high share in the country’s gross domestic product GDP and represents "a natural growth of the Romanian economy."
