Dacia’s market share dropped to 4.2% in January 2011, from 4.4% in January 2010, according to the French Carmakers Association (CCFA).
Regarding the number of car registrations, Dacia outranked Fiat (5,824 units) and Nissan (4,536 units). Volkswagen is market leader among foreign car brands with 11,109 units and is followed by Ford (9,462 units) and Opel (8,016 units).
Dacia registrations on the French market rose 0.6% to 8,218 units if registrations of light commercial vehicles are also considered.
Registrations of foreign car brands in France hit 81,661 in January and account for 44% of total sales.
French group PSA Peugeot Citroen is market leader with 62,812 registrations in January and its market share increased to 33.8%, from 32.9%.
French group Renault (including Dacia) reported 48,869 new car registrations in January 2011, down 0.8% compared to the same month last year. Its market share dropped to 26.3%, from 28.7%.
