According to the Inspectorate, Law no. 331/ 2009 amending letter e) of section (1) of article 276 of the Labor Code, which stipulates that hiring people without concluding individual labor contracts triggers fines from RON3,000 to RON4,000, for each person identified, came into effect on November 16.

The new provisions, however, keep the maximum fine of RON100,000 an employer can pay.

Labor inspectors previously applied fines ranging from RON1,500 to RON2,000.
