The sources said a woman called the emergency number 112 Wednesday morning to report the exchange office’s locking system was broken.
The owner of the exchange office, Iosif Botar, said the office is equipped with a surveillance camera, which is connected to an alarm system.
However, the alarm wasn’t because the robbers probably cut off the wires.
"We don’t know how much was stolen, but there was RON160,000 in the register Tuesday evening ,” Botar said.
Mid-February, a unit of Romanian lender Banca Transilvania in Cluj-Napoca was robbed at gunpoint. A security guard and a cashier were injured and the robbers, who haven’t yet been caught, stole RON246,000.
