According to data provided by the National Association of Tourism Agencies, or ANAT, 71 charter flights will head this year for resorts in Turkey, 23 to Greece, ten to Spain, eight to Tunisia and three to Italy and Cyprus, respectively.
“If last year, Turkey was visited by over 75,000 Romanian tourists, this year their number is expected to rise to over 156,000 tourists. Another significant growth is registered in Tunisia, which expects some 50,000 tourists this year, according to tour operators," ANAT said in a statement.
According to estimates of the tourism association, tour operators will bring some 120,000 foreign tourists to Romania this year.
However, the number of foreign tourists in Romania is considerably higher, as many come on their own and stay in rural pensions, villas, mountain resort hotels, or travel for business.
