Romania's Interior Ministry will escort Argint to Romania, where he is to be put in prison. Romania has asked Italy to deport Argint, a former leader of the ethnic Roma community in Italy, since March 2008.
Argint was arrested in December last year in Tivoli, Italy, under a European arrest warrant.
Argint was investigated for allegedly causing a row in a local bar in eastern Romania, damaging several of the establishment's assets and allegedly injuring two people back in 1997. But that same year, Argint fled trial and went to Italy.
Five years later, in 2002, the local police in Vrancea, eastern Romania, issued an international all-points bulletin to find Argint. After another five years, in 2007, a Romanian court issued an international arrest warrant after it sentenced Argint to three years and a half in prison.
