Kraft Foods Romania ended negotiations today (Friday – e.n.) with representatives of employees and set a severance pay package starting from a minimum eleven salaries up to a maximum 31 salaries, depending on seniority, the date of the layoff and social cases, the company said in a press release.

Two weeks ago, Kraft Foods offered severance packages of ten to 30 salaries, depending on seniority, to its employees in Brasov.

Kraft said in November 2008 that it would shut down its chocolate factory in Romania by the end of 2009 and will relocate to Bulgaria.

Employees signed Thursday the social agreement with the company management, but not the layoff calendar which they said is different from what had been negotiated with unions.

Union leader Dragos Grigore said that although the company’s layoff calendar is utterly different from the one initially set. Under the new schedule, Kraft plans to fire 166 people in May instead of the initially planned 17. in December, the company plans to let go of another 230 people and the rest of employees would be laid off in January 2010.
