Romanian Senate Legal Commission Fails To Enact Report On Delay Of Teachers’ Pay Hike

The vote in the commission ended in a draw, with three senators approving the ordinance and three rejecting it.

 

"We didn’t manage to adopt a report because votes came in at a tie,” commission president Norica Nicolai said.

 

The Romanian government last week adopted an emergency ordinance to block the 50% wage hike for personnel in the educational system until April next year. 

 

The Senate will meet next week to debate the ordinance.
