"Through the extraordinary general shareholders meeting held today (Friday), Gheorghe Udriste was appointed general manager of Metrorex," Metrorex communication manager Mariana Petre told MEDIAFAX.

Udriste thus replaced interim general manager Gabriel Sburlan, who in his turn had replaced Gabriel Mocanu, dismissed in December 2008 by transport and infrastructure minister Radu Berceanu because of his allegedly exaggerated salary.

In the past, Udriste has been general manager of Metrorex between 1997 and 2001, and was dismissed by then transport minister Miron Mitrea.
