The incident took place at the No. 42 Kindergarten in Bucharest, and was reported by the child’s aunt.
ISMB spokesman Marian Banu told MEDIAFAX that an investigation committee was established at the kindergarten to look into the situation, as the child’s right to education was infringed.
“She was held in an empty classroom. I know that the message conveyed the night before was for that child to not attend kindergarten, but we will investigate (…) The School Inspectorate does not and will never agree with such methods of discriminating students with special needs. The right to education was severely violated, as well as the rights of children who have special needs to education,” the spokesman told MEDIAFAX.
The girl’s aunt disclosed the incident on Facebook on Thursday, stating that the kindergarten teacher recommended her to keep the child at home for the day. The woman posted a screen capture of messages she exchanged with the teacher, where the latter told her that 2-3 other children will be temporarily left with another teacher during the inspection if they will be present.
