Romanian Presidential Palace Overcrowded On “Open Gates” Day
People had the chance to visit the President’s office, the National Cotroceni Museum, the gardens surrounding the palace, the hall where the meetings of the High Council for National Defense are held, the saloons hosting official meetings with foreign delegations, the Library, the Union Hall, and, last, not least, the presidential helicopter.
President Traian Basescu arrived at the palace Sunday afternoon and mingled through the crowd, signing autographs and shaking hands.
Basescu said visiting hours will be extended until midnight.
Nearly 40,000 people visited the Cotroceni Palace in 2008.
