The motion needed 69 votes in favor to be adopted.

Social democrats said the motion targets „the irregularities” seen in the activity carried out by the country’s Transport Ministry, massive layoffs within the local railway companies and the contracts negotiated and signed by the ministry.

Social democrats accused Berceanu of having destroyed the country’s infrastructure through his „poor management” and demanded his resignation.

Appearing before the Senate, Berceanu rebuffed social democrats’ accusations and said he would be „more than glad” to cooperate with an investigation committee if one were to be set up.
