Data presented by the minister indicate Romania will export corn of over EUR360 million and wheat of over EUR420 million.
„Romania will export cereals this year. I think over four million tons will be exported, namely, two million tons of wheat and over two million tons of corn. It is a good crop”, said Tabara.
He added prices on the global market are set at almost EUR240 per ton of wheat used for bread, EUR180 per ton of wheat fodder and almost EUR180 per ton of corn.
The minister also said Romania will also export barley and rape seed.
According to data from the Agriculture Ministry, Romania’s wheat output totaled 5.2 million tons in 2009. Romania imported 628,000 tons of wheat and exported 2.3 million tons, with exports amounting to EUR302.9 million.
Of last year’s corn output of 8 million tons, 1.7 million tons were exported and revenues reached EUR252 million.
