Liberal Party Deputy Chairman: 188 Felons Released By Ruling Party Committed Violent Crimes

According to the source, 188 felons who were released early from prison committed crimes such as manslaughter, attempted murder, rape and robbery since October 2017, when a bill which subtracted days from their sentences for poor incarceration conditions was approved, in an official response by the Justice Ministry to an inquiry.

He added that 10,880 inmates were released earlier based on the bill between October 2017 and November 2018, of which a total of 649 committed criminal offences,

The PNL official also correlated the information with a statistic provided by the Interior Ministry, which showed that the yearly number of police patrols nationwide was reduced by more than 400 since 2016.

“The reduction in the number of Gendarmerie and Police patrols was caused by mass retirement from the Interior Ministry. Under the government of the Dragnea-Toader couple, Romania became a haven for criminals and no one can feel safe anymore,” the liberal MP concluded.
