Boc said he urged social democrat leaders Tuesday morning to appoint an interim interior minister, from among social democrat ministers, until they decide who to nominate for the interior minster position. He added he received no response from coalition partners.

„So far, I have received no proposition from our coalition partners, neither for a new interior minister, nor for an interim. Under these circumstances, after 1 p.m., I will send the President the proposition to dismiss the interior minister and expect social democrats to nominate an interim until then,” Boc said.

Boc fired Nica Monday citing poor management and his recent statements alleging plans to rig presidential elections due on November 22. Boc gave social democrats 24 hours to nominate a replacement.

Social democrat leaders decided Monday they will not appoint anyone to replace Nica and called on the prime minister to reconsider his decision, threatening to leave the government and switch to opposition.

Democrat liberal leaders met Tuesday morning and discussed downsizing the government by merging ministries and eliminating the position of deputy prime minister, in case the ruling coalition splits and social democrats switch to opposition, people at the meeting told MEDIAFAX.
