Former Labor Minister: Transport Ministry Will Be Blocked Starting Tommorow
Lucian Sova resigned in late November, after the Social Democrat Party (PSD) proposed to change him from office, but President Klaus Iohannis refused to sign his dismissal.
A minister can stay in office for a maximum of fifteen days after filing his resignation, with the term expiring tomorrow.
“Starting tomorrow we will have no transport minister. No secretary of state can be delegated to have signing power, because when the minister’s term expires all delegations automatically stop. So starting tomorrow we will have a blocked ministry,” said Vasilescu.
Lia Olguta Vasilescu was initially proposed for the office in a government reshuffle in November, but President Iohannis refused to appoint her instead of Sova.
Following the president’s refusal, Vasilescu was proposed for the Regional Development Ministry, with PSD treasures Mircea Draghici proposed for the transport office.
President Klaus Iohannis announced that he will consider the proposals only after National Day celebrations, but has not made any announcements on the matter as of Wednesday.
