Low Cost Airliner Wizz Air Introduces First Domestic Flight In Romania

Low cost airliner Wizz Air on Friday introduced its first domestic flight in Romania, on the route Cluj-Napoca-Bucharest, the company said.

The flight will operate four times a week.

Wizz Air also extended its network of flights towards foreign destinations that depart from Cluj Napoca International Airport. The company will operate three flights each week towards Dortmund, Germany.

In May 2008, Wizz Air eyes opening its eight operational base in Cluj Napoca, equipped with a A320 airplane and also mulls introducing new routes. 

The operator will introduce this year, new flights from Bucharest to Brussels, Venice and Milan. The number of Wizz Air flights from Bucharest will thus expand to 39 each week.

Wizz Air already operates flights from Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania towards numerous destinations all over Europe. In 2007, the company transported 4.2 million passengers.

Wizz Air entered the Romanian market in July 2006 and estimates to fly some one million passengers to and from Romania in 2008.
